Covering a mega 47% of the continent of South America, Brazil is the world’s 5th largest country and one which has many exciting secrets to offer!

Many of you may have visited Brazil in 2014 for the World Cup or in 2016 for the Olympic Games. Or perhaps you have great memories of walks down Copacabana in Rio, or have spent some time marvelling at some of the capital’s other famous landmarks and events, like Carnival or Christ the Redeemer?

From bustling cities to pristine rainforest, Brazil certainly makes for an exciting country to live in or travel to. But what about as an investment option?

The iBillionaire Brazil Strategy offers targeted access to the Brazilian stock market in a way that is accessible to anyone in the world. Many large- and mid-sized companies are included, giving you around 85% in exposure of the total Brazilian market (based on market cap), and allocating a portion of your investments outside the US towards Brazil could be a really interesting way to diversify your portfolio.

So just what types of companies would you expect to find in the iBillionaire Brazil Strategy?

Banking makes up a significant part, with two of the fund’s biggest holdings consisting of Itau Unibanco and Banco Bradesco. But finance is certainly not all that this Strategy tracks: many other industries are represented too. For example, Vale SA is a large materials company, which produces and sells iron ore, pellets, manganese, alloys, gold, nickel, copper, kaolin, bauxite, alumina, aluminum, and potash. Vale SA is based in Brazil, where it owns and operates railroads and maritime terminals. And not to forget another big component of the Strategy: Ambev, the biggest brewery in Latin America and the 5th largest in the world!

Brazil has access to many natural resources which makes it an intriguing opportunity to investors – the country is rich in oil and mineral resources, as well as other obvious natural resources from the Brazilian Rainforest. In addition to its strategic geographic position, this diversity in economy makes Brazil a little less susceptible to outside international crises which could bode well for future growth. The domestic market of Brazil is also huge: the country has a population of over 201 million and the World Bank ranks Brazil’s economy as the 7th largest in the world, with a large and expanding middle class.

Brazil is still considered an Emerging Market so a note of caution to any eager beavers out there. But for investors who are willing to take on some extra risk by investing in an unstable economy, there is potential for stellar results from one of the world’s most friendly and vibrant countries!
